11 best foods are gluten free

Remember last month when I was happy to report that Dr. Nicholas Perricone's top ten beauty food picks were all gluten free? Once again some happy reporting. "The 11 Best Foods You Aren’t Eating" (translation: but should be) are naturally gluten free. Yay again. The article was originally published in The New York Times on June 30, 2008 and appeared on their list of most-viewed stories for 2008. Nutritionist and author Dr. Jonny Bowden has several lists of healthful foods people [I prefer saying] could be eating but aren't. His updated list includes: beets, cabbage, Swiss chard, cinnamon, pomegranate juice, dried plums, pumpkin seeds, sardines, turmeric, frozen blueberries and canned pumpkin. Pumpkin. Twice. Who knew?

Whoo hoo!! Hooray for gluten free goodness - ha ha :) I've been wanting to try baking a flourless chocolate cake with beets as one of the ingredients! Sounds sort of gross, but I'm intrigued :) I do love pom juice, blueberries, & pumpkin - mmmm!

Oh, from that list, I eat pumpkin seed, pumpkin (but I cook my own, I don't like the canned) chard, cinnamon, blueberries, and cabbage. And I didn't even know they were on a list.

Have you tried beet tops? They are delish!

Thanks for the link to this article---I love pretty much everything on that list! Cabbage is one of my all time faves, and i've recently discovered how easy it is to make beet dishes from fresh, instead of from the can. The only one I haven't delved into is chard because I'm frankly intimidated by it!
