Green = Good + Glamorous

Los Angeles-based interior designer Lori Dennis is author of the soon to be released Green Interior Design (November), a book which covers every aspect of residential interior design from a green perspective. It's filled with over 100 color photos of projects and furnishings and is a wonderful go-to resource for those looking to create eco-friendly interiors.

I couldn't resist posting a few photos of this Hollywood Hills home which Lori worked on...

Visit Lori's portfolio to see more examples of her amazing work.

Their parents were awesome.

Blogger Eliot Glazer started the website My Parents Were Awesome to show photos of parents when they were "super-awesome." My Parents Were Awesome: The Book is slated to be published later this year, and submissions from readers are currently being accepted until March 17. Think you might want to publicly honor your parents' or grandparents' awesomeness?

The Sartorialist and the Flea [Market]

Living in a metropolis like Los Angeles definitely has its perks. Today street style photographer Scott Schuman from The Sartorialist (no surprise here that it's one of my fave blogs...Map That Outfit!...) will be signing his self-titled book at The Beverly Center in West Hollywood.Needless to say, I want to go. However, there appears to be another book signing today--one which unfortunately trumps yours, Scott. And that would be by Jeff Kinney (New York Times bestselling Diary of a Wimpy Kid series). Two of my kids will be attending this highly anticipated event and I, of course, will be accompanying my children. Perhaps I'll get lucky and be able to juggle both signings...break away for a work thing...pick up Big Sis...do homework. Maybe dinner.It is becoming routine on Sunday to pay a visit to the famed flea market at Fairfax and Melrose which the LA Times notes "is great for browsing the bazaar or hunting the bizarre." My daughter and I bought dresses we absolutely adore. AND, the whole family is benefiting from my additional purchase of two gorgeous, slightly mismatched wood benches.

Thin Photography Exhibit at Smith College

Yesterday world-renowned photographer and eating disorder activist Lauren Greenfield presented and discussed her work at the Smith College Museum of Art. Unfortunately, I hadn't heard about the lecture until today. Ms. Greenfield's Thin and Girl Culture - Major solo exhibition is currently on view at SCMA through April 26. (I definitely won't miss this.)

THIN is a documentary project by Greenfield on the subject of eating disorders. She followed and photographed a group of women in treatment at the Renfrew Center in Florida, producing color photographs and a documentary film about the women and their experiences. Thin grew out of an earlier body of work, Girl Culture, which focused on the image-obsession of women of all ages in the United States. Selections from Girl Culture will also be on display in an adjacent gallery to provide a context for Thin and expand the themes of the show.

On March 27 there will be a second screening of her award-winning documentary Thin at Smith. The film follows four girls in their daily lives at Renfrew. The film explores the process of treatment, the cycle of addiction, and the unique relationships, rules, and rituals that define everyday life within the treatment center.
