Do you think you could have celiac disease?

A friend of mine whom I've known for fifteen years was diagnosed recently with iron-deficiency anemia. After experimenting with various treatments and doing some of her own research, she decided to go on a gluten free diet. Since going gluten free, her lab test results are showing significant improvement. In fact, E. acknowledges having had digestive issues since childhood. While she doesn't yet have an official diagnosis of celiac disease, it's pretty clear that she is doing better with the GF diet.

While I'm not recommending that you self-diagnose and put yourself on a gluten free diet, my goal IS to spread celiac awareness. And to have you check out Shirley's fantastically informative post about the 20+ Reasons To Get Tested For Gluten Issues. Go there now.

My best friend has celiac disease and it is amazing how changing her diet has changed her life ( and how long it took for it to be diagnosed)!

i had thought i might at one point, after experiencing some unexplainable health issues. i never did get tested though.

but in my search to figure things out, i found out about the blood type diet/theory. it's premise is like that of the celiac disease premise—but includes all foods, not just gluten. i started on my blood type diet (eliminating foods that were thought to irritate people with my blood type) and i started to notice a very big change! i can't 'say enough about how much i believe in it!

great post.

I could not agree more. I have never "officially" been diagnosed with the stomach biopsy because I found it to be too invasive. After a positive blood test and changing to a gluten free diet, I found my answer. I dont need a doctor to tell me when a diet changes my life. Gluten Free diets are healthier in general, with or without Celiac Disease- so anyone with serious digestive issues should give it a try, it might change their life and be the answer they've been looking for.

My sister in law was recently placed on a gluten free diet. Until then, I had never heard of this....since then, I have found that two other people that I know have a similar affliction!
